Access Control
More secure than keys. Less expensive than you’d think.
What is Access Control?
Access Control is the selective restriction of access to a place or other resource. For most people this conjures up a ring of keys or usernames and passwords. Both of these systems have benefits, but what if you could combine them?
Electronic Access Control does just this by replacing keys with fobs or cards that are unique to the holder and can be restricted or revoked at any time.
Keys are a problem not a solution.
Have you ever had an employee lose their keys? Lock themselves out of the office? Leave a door unlocked? Steal from your supply closet?
Keys are often a constant source of frustration to businesses of all sizes. Using traditional keys often seems like a cost-savings measure but often becomes a costly exercise in managing theft, building security, and replacing keys or even locks for your secured areas. Keys are anonymous. Keys can be copied. Once a key is out of your hands there is no way to know who is using your keys without external video surveillance which often requires laborious manual review of footage.
Fortunately this is a solved problem.
Why switch to electronic access control?
Key fobs are useless once invalidated, combining the convenience of keys with the security of a password you can revoke if a key is lost or an employee is terminated.
Key fobs only work when you want them to. Provide time-restricted access that keeps your front-line staff out of the building outside normal business hours.
Access control systems maintain an audit log. You can know exactly when someone walked into the building or when they tried to and were denied access.
